First Look: Goblins Starting Zone 1-6 (Kazan)

December 7, 2010 in Gaming, PC

So, with the recent release of World of Warcraft’s latest expansion “Cataclysm”,

Justin's First Shaman

my wife and I were able to take a look at one of the new races, Goblins. I’ve really been looking forward to this, since I was going to make the very first Shaman I’ve ever played. After playing through to level 8 last night, I wanted to go ahead and let you guys know how AWESOME the new starting zone is.

First, you start out in Kazan, the wonderful city built by goblin engineering. It’s really a beautiful place; complete with a World of Warcraft version of modern technology. There are roads twisting over and under one another, houses and shops made of metal, street lamps, Las Vegas style lighting throughout the city and CARS! WOOT! Levels 1-6 all take place in Kazan as you make three new friends who follow you around and ride passenger in your “hot rod”. Most of these quests are self explanatory, but they ARE very much out of WoW’s norm. There’s even a quest where you have to run over some “looters” and steal their “loot”. Oh, and then there’s a quest that is reminiscent of “Plants vs. Zombies” where you have to blow up these robots before they make it to you; during this quest you see Deathwing for the first time in your career as a Goblin.

Shortly after the previously mentioned quest you’re told to evacuate the city and receive a quest that’s turn in is at a dock. From there you jump on a boat and then are graced by a really intense and sometimes funny cinematic.

Truth is I tend to just run through quests and not read the story, however most of it seems to make sense without having to. After your boat is blown up by the Alliance you find refuge on the “Lost Isles”. This is a part of the leveling experience that I can’t really go into yet since as the title says, this is for levels “1-6″.

I will be going through one by one and taking a look at all of the new wonders of Cataclysm, so stay tuned!
