Green Lantern Movie
May 25, 2011 in Upcoming Movies
I don’t know how everyone in general feels about the new Green Lantern movie, but I for one am unwittingly excited to see it. Not only do I have a special place in my nerd-heart for Green Lantern, but I think Ryan Reynolds was a great pick.
So in lieu of my excitement, I thought I’d give you guys some information that I was able to find out about it.
WHICH GREEN LANTERN IS IT?
The first question must be, which of the green lanterns will this movie be focusing on. Well the answer is Hal Jordan.
For the sake of just knowing, he’s the second “Green Lantern” that’s existed since DC Comics began, and he came in in the Silver Age of Comics. He was created to replace the original Lantern named Alan Scott who was birthed in the Golden Age of Comics.
Some interesting stuff about this particular Lantern is that he started out as “the first Human Green Lantern” and in 1994 became the villain known as Parallax and was replaced by Kyle Raynor as the human Green Lantern until recently when Green Lantern: Rebirth showed Hal rise again to become a hero and rejoin Green Lantern Corps.
WHO IS THE VILLAIN?
Strangely enough Parallax with
be the villain in this movie. Since it was later revealed that Parallax was a sort of parasite prior to it’s Hal Jordan embodiment, I’m assuming that the main villain is actually the parasite itself.
In the trailer of the movie the entity looks like smoke with yellow lightning moving through it, so I’m assuming it’s inspiration is based off of this.
The movie is being directed by Martin Campbell who is responsible for movies such as “The Legend of Zorro” and most recently “The Edge of Darkness” (the movie that Mel Gibson attempted to make his comeback with). However, to give him some credit, he’s also the guy that directed James Bond: Golden Eye and Casino Royale (which I never saw).
WHO WROTE THE SCREEN PLAY?
Greg Berlanti – Recently worked on ABC’s “No Ordinary Family”
Michael Green – Co-Produced NBC’s “Heroes”
Marc Guggenheim – Executive Producer on “Flash Forward”
Michael Goldenberg – Wrote the screenplay for “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”
WHEN’S IT COMING OUT?
It’s coming out June 17th! So mark your calenders and bookmark NerdSpot, because we’ll be reviewing it the day of it’s release!
In the meantime, check out this trailer, which I personally think is AWESOME!
FUN FACT:
Other picks for the Green Lantern were Chris Pine, Sam Worthington, Bradley Cooper, Jared Leto and last but certainly not the least hysterical… Justin Timberlake. Just thought you should know… hah.
Saving...
